In this step-by-step course we'll be learning my ELEMENTARY harp solo, “Hope for Tomorrow”. I'll take you through the basic learning elements including fingering, brackets, patterns and counting. I’ll give you practice tips and support for playing slow and steady hands together. You'll love learning how to play with more artistry so you can feel proud to play this piece for your family and friends.

Is this course for you?

This course is designed for those at an elementary reading and playing level. Emphasis will be placed on supporting the basic reading elements including selecting fingering and brackets, counting dotted quarter note rhythms and tips for developing hands together coordination.

If you play a small harp (with Bass C as your lowest string)  I will give you tips throughout the course on how to easily make adjustments for your small harp.

What do I need?

You will need to purchase, download and print the sheet music from the Music Discoveries ShopThe course does not include sheet music.

You will need a pedal or lever harp, set to play in A minor (no sharps or flats).

Course Overview

This course is organized into 5 Modules (27 lessons) for an hour of skilled instruction.

Introduction

We'll begin with an overview of the course along with what you need to get started. Watch the performance video for inspiration and download the complimentary audio track.

Basics (Section 1)

I’ll give you plenty of support as you learn m.1-10 (section 1). We’ll practice the left hand patterns, count dotted quarter notes, choose right hand fingering and brackets and learn strategies for developing your hands together coordination.
(22 minutes)

Basics (Section 2)

Next we'll study the basic learning elements in section 2. We’ll learn the right hand with a combination of rote and reading. Left hand will discover 1-5-8 and 1-5-7 patterns. Learn another hands together practice strategy. Then map through the symbols and form before continuing on your own.
(16 minutes)

Develop Skills

Once you have worked on the basic elements you'll be ready to develop the SKILL of playing slow and steady with the metronome. Play along with me, one section at a time to master your accuracy and fluency. 
(10 minutes) 

Play with Artistry

We will study 4 ways to help you bring the piece to life with character and expression.
